Destine, a loudspeaker for values such as tolerance, inclusion and respect

  • Every 30th of January, in commemoration of the death of Mahatma Ghandi, a pacifist leader who died for fighting against violence, the International School Day of Non-Violence and peace. is celebrated
  • Destine’s partners help to promote the values of tolerance, accessibility and inclusion by fighting against all possible acts of discrimination in the VET e- environment.

Education goes beyond knowledge. Enrolled in schools from a young age, teachers alongside with families must educate values and principles such as tolerance, respect and understanding towards other cultures, habits or religions. A situation to which the e-environment is not external.

The outbreak of Covid-19 accelerated the transition to digital education, an environment in which it is more complicated for teachers to manage relationships between students.  Relationships that in some cases may have implicit discriminatory traits, not only because of status, but also because of gender or religion. This is why it is so important to educate and transmit values. It is in this context that  Destine was created, a project that goes beyond the creation of  a platform for accessible online VET learning and also focuses on values such as tolerance and inclusion.

People with disabilities , minority religions or the gender gap are some of the groups that can suffer most from violence at school, a stage in which students not only develop their cognitive skills, but also their social skills and a negative experience can have serious consequences in the future. This is why  Destine´s partners, during some of their analysis processes of the educational context in the different countries they come from, register some needs to be solved, such as equal opportunities.

, The European Union is also working to solve possible discriminatory actions or existing biases in the online environment with proposals such as the policy to protect minor online. An initiative created with the aim of addressing existing and emerging risks already identified by a report released by the European Commission that aware about the harmful content, conduct and contact that could be displayed in the digital environment. In this way, providing students with tools to detect inappropriate content or to report misconduct is a pending task on which society as a whole needs to work.
